Soldotna, AK to Seward, AK

After a quick detour for more amazing coffee, we hit the road for Seward.

After driving for a few hours through Chugach National Forest, we stopped at Kenai Fjords National Park to see Exit Glacier. Here are some quick stats on Exit Glacier. A historical average retreat is 43 feet per year. However, over the past few years, Exit Glacier has been retreating at an astonishing 260 feet per year. Undoubtedly, our consumption patterns influence this.

Exit Glacier is one of 34 named glaciers that are part of the Harding Icefield. I wanted to hike to the ice field (which is a 6 hour hike in and out), but mom wasn't game. The flies were absolutely unbearable though.

After adding another patch to the collection, we headed to downtown Seward for lunch at the Seward Brewing Co. Food and beer were both great. After a watermelon and goat cheese salad and yellow coconut halibut curry, we wandered in tourist shops and by the shore until we could check into our Airbnb. Wifi is still scarce.
